Session 9

Page history last edited by Dave 15 years, 8 months ago

The party divvied up loot from last session, had a chat with the father of the boy they rescued, rested up, and bought some stuff.

Mercus Niolanthar is the minister of guilds, a very rich man who lives in the Noble's Quarter.  In gratitude for the rescue of his son, he passed along a tip (but avoided telling us where he heard it) about an abandoned temple to Destor in The Warrens.  He said that they tended to collect treasure, which was all the convincing the party needed to go hunting for it.  He also gave them a map that showed some ruins, and how to get to the temple from there.

Destor is the only god to be banned from Ptolus, since bad accidents always happened to the people living near the temples.

The party hired a street urchin named Bobby to lead them to the ruins in which the temple was located.  When they were almost there, several members of the Pale Dogs were waiting there.  They offered to let the party through for 100 gold, but Cyan decided to give them some insults instead.  Surprisingly, they didn't like that, and combat started.  The party handled the five Dogs without too much effort and entered the sewers.

They found the entrance to the temple in the sewers, and let Crow handle the pickaxing of the makeshift wall that covered the entrance.  Inside were the remnants of tables and things, as well as a few zombies.  As the party moved in to dispatch the zombies, a gelatinous cube, attracted by the noise also tried to make a meal of the party.  Enveloping Mia and Jacob, things started to look bad.  While Crow and Edson defeated the zombies, Cyan, Mia and Jacob kept the cube at bay.  While the rest of the party concentrated their attacks on the outside of the cube, Edson was sucked inside.  Instead of trying to escape, he used his infernal powers to destroy the cube from the inside.

After taking a short rest, the party started to search the interior of the temple.  One of the first things they noticed was how weird the temple was.  Doorways were build with weird angles, torch sconces were not always upright, tables/chairs/etc had random numbers of legs and so forth.  The party first discovered some living quarters, with decayed skeletons still resting in their crumbling beds.  They also discovered that there are still openings to the surface, which the locals apparently use to dispose of excrement.  Moving on, the party discovered a dead [priest?] near a desk, but nothing remain in the desk.  The last room searched in this session finally held something worthwhile.  There was an iron desk with a glass chest firmly attached to it.  Inside the chest was a velvet pillow and resting atop it, the holy symbol of Destor.  While Mia was trying to open the chest, Crow noticed a secret door in the room.  Inside, they found an Darkleaf +1 robe, as well as a ritual scroll of Arcane Lock.  Failing to open the chest (it looked like it actually couldn't be opened, Mia busted it open with a pickaxe).  Immediately, a loud alarm sounded, and outside the room, several flaming, glowing skeletons rushed towards the group.  Tossing the holy symbol and pillow in her bag, Mia and the others prepared to defend themselves and their treasure.

Dave: (OOC) I think Jacob should take the Darkweave Robes since he is more apt to get targeted than Cyan is. Cyan plays in the background and slings stuff at range while Jacob seems to like to get up in people's grills where they are apt to slap back once in awhile. I don't mind taking the scroll though. As for the skeletons and shit that just animated...

Cyan: "Oh Mia...what did you do?" Cyan says with a grin. He moves towards the door and says as the Felf shoves the holy symbol and pillow into a bag, "Lemme see that symbol. Could be a chance that we can use it to keep these bony abominations friendly-like." (Passive Religion 20) Cyan will cast Mage Hand and grasp the holy symbol by the chain, while Cyan holds the skull of the spellcaster in one hand, holding them both aloft above them in the hopes the undead will recognize the symbol and skull and allow them safe passage as representatives of Destor.

So the cloth armor is mine as well then? AC is probably the least of all things I worry about adjusting but using it is better than selling it obviously.
